Job Description

The Regional Fleet/Operations Specialist is responsible for assisting in the administration of the region’s Fleet Management Program to ensure continuous review of fleet maintenance and improvement programs. In this role, you will work directly with Branch Managers and Delivery Services Managers (DSM) to identify needs for procurement, maintenance, transfer and disposition of all regional branch vehicles and vehicle related equipment. 

 

This position is also responsible for assisting the Regional Operations Managers in the training implementation and ongoing review of the Customer Service Delivery System (CSDS). This position strives to ensure compliance of ABC Company policies, safety training, OSHA and DOT regulations.
 

Specific duties may include:

  • Administering policies and procedures governing fleet management operations

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of the annual region fleet budget/capital plan

  • Maintaining standards for equipment operators, accident reporting procedures and disciplinary action related to policy violations

  • Evaluating safety and DOT violations and determine appropriate and corrective measures

  • Reinforcing the importance of personal safety and regulatory compliance with branch associates

  • Developing and administering fleet reporting to Regional and National Support Center (NSC) management

  • Processing fleet replacement requests that include required equipment specifications and coordinates procurement with the NSC Fleet Department

  • Ensuring that branches maintain compliance with all DOT regulations to eliminate DOT violations (quarterly DOT inspections, DVIR’s and hours-of-service)

  • Assisting in accident and damage investigations and claims

  • Reviewing overall fleet productivity within the region and moving equipment as needed for improvements

  • Ensuring that branch DSMs schedule routine and required vehicle maintenance

  • Preparing and presenting information concerning operation effectiveness and service levels to upper management

  • Assisting in facilitating DOT random and reasonable suspicion drug testing compliance

  • Working with the NSC Fleet Department in processing paperwork (titles, registration copies, tax receipts, acquisition fleet reviews, inspections, IRP/IFTA)

  • Other duties as assigned
     

Specific qualifications include:

  • 1-3 years of experience in DOT compliance, regulations and fleet operations is preferred

  • Previous experience working with safety training and compliance programs is preferred

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Effective time management, organizational and prioritization skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
